Our Mission

To support the unique abilities of neurodivergent adolescents & young adults with special needs enhance the executive function, developmental, sensory, social-emotional, and daily living skills needed to maximize their potential and independence as they enter adulthood.

How OT can support Independence

Executive Function Development

A set of mental skills and processes that develop over time to help us manage daily tasks. The three main EF skills are working memory, inhibition (impulse control), and mental flexibility.

Daily Living Skills

The fundamental, routine, and essential skills needed to successfully care for oneself and perform tasks to live independently in a safe and competent manner.

Visual Perception / Motor

Visual perception is the gathering, organizing/ making sense of, and interpreting visual information. Visual motor skills rely on the coordination of visual perception, eye, and body movement to interact with objects.

Social-Emotional Skills

The process of understanding and managing positive relationships with others through empathy, self-awareness, emotional-regulation, and conflict resolution.

Sensory Integration & Modification

Facilitating how the body and brain experience, process, organize and react to internal & external sensory information (tactile, vestibular, proprioceptive, visual, etc.) – often with modifications to tasks / environments needed to support the nervous system.

Reflex Integration

The use of natural body movements & sensory input through  play and exercise to support delayed maturation of the central nervous system thus supporting cognitive, emotional and physical development.

Why Uniquely Possible?

Over my 16+yrs experience as pediatric and adolescent occupational therapist, I have been lucky to accompany so many children on their journey of growing the sensory, social-emotional, and developmental skills needed to navigate childhood. However, I have also repeatedly witnessed the worry of families as their growing child approached adulthood with a lack of transitional services available to support their independence in the next chapter of life. Uniquely Possible Therapy Services aims to promote the abilities that are unique to each adolescent and young adult client (typically ages 13-24) to foster confidence in succeeding in all that is possible!

My Goal

I believe that finding a balance in life is vital to happiness but also honors the notion that the scale is always shifting and everyone’s ‘balance’ is specific to their own situations. Uniquely Possible Therapy Services seeks to provide individual and small group occupational therapy services to neurodivergent adolescents and young adults who aim to gain independence into adulthood through enhancing their executive functioning skills, practicing daily-living skills for successful independence, and building the sensory & social-emotional skills to thrive in their community.
